What is Risograph printing?

Risograph printing is such a cool way to print! It’s like screen printing but done through the mechanics of a Risograph machine. With a limited palette of vibrant, soy-based inks, Risograph printing produces a distinct and tactile finish.

Risograph printing is a high-quality and cost-effective printing method that uses a stencil duplicator to create prints. It is known for its unique textures and vibrant colours, making it popular for producing artwork, zines, and posters. The process uses soy-based inks and is often chosen for its eco-friendly nature.

What makes Risograph printing special is its imperfect quirks. The nature of the printing process means that prints may have variations in marks and alignment. These imperfections contribute to the unique character of the prints. As a result, your print may vary slightly from the one photographed.

Where are Bob & Bee products made?

All of our Risograph prints and greeting cards are produced in the UK. I frequently visit my local print studio, Intra Arts in Rochester, to use their Risograph printer. I enjoy watching the designs come to life during the printing process; the vibrant colours truly make them pop with joy!

Additionally, we collaborate with other independent suppliers and make a point of supporting small UK businesses.

How do I look after my Risograph print?

The soy-based inks used in the Risograph printing process can smudge, so take care when you handle your print. Risograph inks are not lightfast and can fade over time when exposed to direct sunlight. To help extend the life of your print, we recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight and using UV-protective glazing, such as acrylic or glass, when framing it.

What are we doing to be more sustainable?

We enjoy printing on recycled paper stock, make an effort to use biodegradable cellophane bags and reuse packaging whenever possible.
